Mission

To assist individuals diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses to live life as fully as possible while maintaining their dignity and comfort, as well as to provide support to their loved ones.

 

Vision

Dignity House Hospice will focus on the client rather than the illness, and aim to give families respite from the extraordinary challenges of providing ongoing care to an ill or dying loved one.

 

Purpose

The primary purpose of Dignity House Hospice is to develop palliative and end-of-life care programs to provide care options for Lanark County residents diagnosed with a life-limiting illnesses, and to support their families and friends.

 

Values

All services will be provided at no charge to clients and their loved ones.  All hospice programs will be guided by a commitment to EQUAL access to services for ALL residents of Lanark County.   We take our clients’ confidentiality seriously and will ensure that it is protected at all times. As we work towards our final objective to establish a residential hospice, the Board of Directors of Dignity House Hospice is pleased to offer residents of Lanark County a Day Hospice Program every Monday at McMartin House in Perth.  [Day Hospice Program]

 

Our programs follow the guidelines for hospice palliative care as defined by the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association

 

Mission Statement of the CHPCA

The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association (CHPCA) is the national association which provides leadership in hospice palliative care in Canada.

CHPCA offers leadership in the pursuit of excellence in care for persons approaching death so that the burdens of suffering, loneliness and grief are lessened.

CHPCA will strive to achieve its mission through:

  • collaboration and representation;

  • increased awareness, knowledge and skills related to hospice palliative care of the public, health care providers and volunteers;

  • development of national standards of practice for hospice palliative care in Canada;

  • support of research on hospice palliative care;

  • advocacy for improved hospice palliative care policy, resource allocation and supports for caregivers.
